Lyrics

I Get So Down

© 2006 Jared Collette

I Get So Down sometimes that I—
Want to close my eyes and cry.
My heart won’t let it out; my eyes suffer drought.
Behind a smile, I hide.

I’ve been so blessed in my life.
Why should I be down sometimes?
It is an unknown reason, yet I go on breathing.
I think he was overrated; now I feel so devastated.

I Get So Down sometimes ‘cause I—
Feel like I can do nothing right.
Still I’m doing my best, yet I never pass the test.
It’s like I’m failing all the time.

Then there you were, right near beside me.
You came and found me like a beacon in the night.
Calming my storm-thrashed heart,
Shining hope into the dark.
That’s why you are my light.

You lift me up and help me fly.
No longer I’m just getting by.
I’m full of appreciation; life is a new sensation.
Finally, I can cry.

You bring peace into my soul.
You give me strength; you give me control.
To me you keep on giving, and life is so worth living.
I wish I could do so much more.

I Get So Down sometimes ‘cause I—
Feel like I can do nothing right.
Except for doing my best, I wonder how to pass the test;
I’m failing all the time.

There you are right here beside me.
You come and find me; you’re my beacon in the night.
Calming my storm-thrashed heart,
Shining hope into the dark,
That’s why you are

There you are right here beside me.
You come and find me; you’re my beacon in the night.
Calming my storm-thrashed heart,
Shining hope into the dark,
That’s why you are my life.
